Christmas Shopping Made Easier

An October 2008 study has shown that nearly a third of U.S. women find Christmas shopping moderately to highly stressful.

Most survey responders (61%) said the greatest source of stress came from trying to choose the right gift for everyone...a gift every recipient would genuinely like.

Following closely behind were the pressures of completing gift shopping in time and paying for the gifts without overspending or incurring large debt.

But, Christmas shopping doesn't have to be highly stressful. If you are a stressed out Christmas shopper, try these simple tips to make the season happier for you.

1. First, construct a budget to ensure that you will not spend more than you can afford. Promise yourself you will not exceed it under any circumstances, and stick to your promise.

2. Go online to compare the prices of the gifts you have selected. And, do not be afraid to buy online, but be sure to include shipping when comparing costs. Online shopping can save you time and money.

3. If you tend to overspend when you use credit cards, do not use them. Do not even bring them with you when you gift shop.

4. If you do use a credit card, choose one that offers you a reward of some kind, like airline miles, gasoline or something else you are likely to use.

5. Instead of trying to give everyone the perfect gift, which is impossible, give some of your friends a gift card from a store or restaurant they like. That will reduce your stress and ensure that your friends will wind up with a gift they like.

Not only do the five above suggestions eliminate most of the anxiety of gift shopping for the holidays, but they help make gift giving the happy experience it should be.
