How Can I Fix My Slow Running Computers

There is probably nothing more bothersome than a computer that is so slow it seems like it just can't get out of its own way! I've seen nice calm, normal folks just about ready to blow a cork because their computer was taking hours to do a job that should take only a few minutes.

To me, it is understandable to be impatient with a slow computer. After all, they are supposed to be fast; aren't they? You would figure if you got a modern day computer, even if only somewhat up-to-date, one of the advantages would be that it would be fast. And at one time not that long ago, it probably was. So, what happened? Why suddenly has this modern day marvel for super fast communication become slower than molasses?

Is it possible to get the get-up-and-go back into this now almost useless computer? Is there anything that can be done to resurrect it now that it is acting like Radio Shack TRS-80? (That's a really old computer with no modem, hard drive and even no floppy drive). The happy answer is yes, there is and I will now explain what you can do.

Malware, Spyware and Stuff

The first thing we have to do to get our slow running computer back up to speed is give it a good spyware scan. Most people I know already have a spyware cleaner installed on their computers. A spyware cleaner would be some kind of spyware/malware/adware cleaning program that you have installed on your computer or came on the computer when it was new.

Some of you will not have a spyware cleaner installed but you will have a virus scanner on your computer. This is okay as spyware cleaners and virus scanners basically perform the same function. The viruses the virus scanners get rid of and the spyware the spyware cleaners get rid of all fall under the category of malware or malicious software. Both virus scanners and spyware cleaners clean malware out of your computer. Usually, neither type of cleaner will miss any kind of parasite.

The bottom line is; if you have used a virus scanner or spyware cleaner since your computer has lost its speed and this cleaner is up to date, then chances are great you're okay with the spyware and viruses and the like and we can look elsewhere for your problem. However, if you haven't scanned for malware, malware could be your problem. This stuff can kill your computer!

I won't kid you, if your computer is running really slow, you may not be able to download any kind of software onto it. If this is the case, you will have to bring your computer to the repair shop unless you have the means and knowhow to run a virus scan on your computer from another one.

Spyware Free?

So, you're virus and spyware free, huh? Great! In a case like this when a computer is very slow, there is about a 99% chance there is registry corruption present and it is making your operating system work really hard to perform operations it should perform easily. So go on-line and get a registry scan. That is once again, if your computer is capable of going on-line.

If however your computer is operating, albeit slowly, simply go to the website of a top rated registry cleaner and get a free scan. Yes, all the good registry cleaners I know of will give you a free scan so you can see if registry corruption is your problem.

If the free scan shows a lot of registry corruption the best thing you can do is go ahead and get the company's license to clean it out. There is a charge for this but it is quite small. I recommend doing this because if you have registry corruption and then you clean it out, great things are likely to happen. In other words, your computer will be fast again!

I can't tell you how many computers I seen transformed from crawlers into flyers after they got their registries cleaned! Even better news is the fact best new registry cleaners optimize the registry as well. Optimization will make your computer even faster. I've seen this happen many times. It is very impressive! So, there is my advice. Get and keep your computer's registry cleaned, keep the spyware out and probably, speed will no longer be an issue!
