Most singers has a range where they feel best singing. If a singer attempts to sing a high pitch, most of the time the voice does not have that rich sound quality because it changes to a falsetto. Sing pitches as high as you hum as this will present a more realistic view of how high you can actually sing without falsetto.

Only your favorite singer can sound exactly like themselves as no one can copy their trademark sound exactly. Keep in mind that you can practice and spend time to sound like them or get the same range, but your own voice is your sound. Learn how to work with your voice and cultivate your distinctive sound which people will learn to know.

In order to increase your voice range, practice is the key to getting the job done. To many people practice sounds like hard work that brings little results, but when you do it every day you do get better. Most excellent singers are always working to improve themselves, and it shows in their voice.

There are a couple of things that you can do to increase your range such as practice speaking, read something and fluctuate your voice so that it rises and falls with the words your reading. You'll notice that when you're excited your voice gets higher and thinner and when you have a cold your voice is lower. You can do the same thing with your voice to train its range.

If you read a children's story with a lot of dramatic expression, you can experiment and stretch the limits of of your voice more than you can singing. When you get excited your voice will raise, but don't go out of your range when you do this. Your vocal cords will "remember" how far it can reach a higher range before it turns into falsetto.

Try to teach your voice to relax as your vocal cords attempt to reach higher notes. One way is to practice speaking in a dramatic, almost musical way so that your voice gets used to higher pitches. It is possible you may learn to to sing higher pitches as a result.

You should never try to force your voice to go past its range as you can damage your vocal cords, which don't repair that easily. If they never heal, your voice may change due to your age and how much stress you place on it. If you yell or raise your voice the vocal chords will weaken which is not good as we need to talk to communicate too.

If you practice properly you'll find that your vocal cords will begin to react to your requests. You'll hear a difference when you try to hit the higher notes which aren't really that high. Your vocal cords have adjusted to being loosened to allow you comfortably reach those higher notes.
