If you are considering a career in network support then the Microsoft MCSA course is an ideal qualification for you. Whether you're about to join the IT industry or already have experience but no certificate, there's a range of courses to fit either requirement.

Each of these scenarios needs a different solution, so make sure you're on the right training programme before getting your credit card out. Find an organisation that takes the time to understand you, and what you're looking to do, and one that has the ability to give you the information you need to make your decision.

Ask them to look at your personality, and explore your likes and dislikes in the working environment to show you which job will suit you best. Find advisors who know the IT industry well, and can explain what you will actually be doing.

Once you know where you are heading, the next point is to start training at your current skill level, whatever that might be. Also make sure that the certification you are working towards is the one industry prefers.

The pinnacle of MCSA training is home-based. It consists of the latest state-of-the-art video tutorials, detailed on-screen demonstrations and interactive environments where you can practice your new found skills. This is by far the easiest and most natural way to learn - you can go over the material as often as you like, as they are delivered on sets of discs and not a manual to be read.

MCSA is a level of course where most will need help on hand whilst they are learning. Perhaps it's a reflection of the times we live in, but many companies only offer 'office hours' support and claim it's full 24/7 support by adding a message system. Wishful thinking at best - but it has little value if your aim is to study alongside a job.

You'll appreciate the need for real 24/7 support once you start. When you need assistance, even if it's at 1am on a Sunday, there should be a team of tutors available to help you there and then, avoiding irksome interruptions that mess up your momentum.

Because of the quality of this type of training material, you're getting individual attention from the comfort of your PC. This makes your life much easier, with no need to travel away from your home and family to attend classrooms.

Ensure your chosen course includes some kind of exam practice software, preferably Microsoft authorised. These enable you to practice the pace of the exam, the level of difficulty and the way the questions are asked. You'll be able to measure yourself and know when you're ready to sit the real thing. Without such a tool - it's unlikely you'll pass first time.
