Acne is not a skin condition that teenagers suffer from today, there are many adults who also suffer from this particular skin complaint as well. Luckily for these people there are now plenty of different treatments available to help deal with this problem and although effective some do contain chemicals which could be harmful to ones skin.

This is certainly one of the main reasons why so many people are now choosing to use natural ways of treating this particular skin condition today. There are plenty of good quality natural acne treatments one can now use that do not contain chemicals which are harsh or dangerous on ones skin.

Although many people do not actually feel that natural acne treatments are not as effective as those you can purchase over the counter or prescribed by a doctor. This is simply not the case and in fact the majority of natural treatments for this skin condition are in fact very effective indeed.

One such natural treatment which is proving to be effective in treating acne is tea tree oil. The oil which is golden in color comes from a variety of different plants and the only way it can be made is through steam distillation of the plants leaves. For many centuries in Australia this oil has been used by indigenous groups for both medicinal and cosmetic purposes.

The oil itself contains anti-bacterial properties which help to kill off the bacterium that causes acne to form under your skin. This particular natural treatment for acne should never be applied directly to ones skin, but rather it be diluted in a mixture of water. You should put 1 part oil to 20 parts water in order for it to be truly effective.

In fact because of its effectiveness many acne products being produced today which contain benzoyl peroxide in them are being remade using tea tree oil instead. This is because the results it provides the user with are very similar to those of the chemical benzoyl peroxide and are certainly not as harmful.

Certainly if you are someone who has sensitive skin then using a product which contains tea tree oil would be far more suitable as it is much gentler on the skin. Also you will soon discover that using such products your skin is far less likely to dry out. However, if you want to moisture your skin as you treat it then use a mixture of tea tree oil with Aloe Vera.

Along with tea tree oil another natural ingredient which is considered to be one of the best acne treatments now available is the spice turmeric. This particular treatment for acne cannot only be applied directly to the affected area of skin, but can be taken orally as well. This natural acne treatment contains antiseptic properties which again can help to kill off the bacterium causing your acne.

When taken orally it is best to mix a small amount of the turmeric into a cup of warm milk and drink prior to going to bed at night. As for the topical application mix some turmeric into a smooth creamy paste with either coconut oil or sesame oil. Then apply directly to the affected skin around 20 minutes prior to going to bed to allow it to dry and so you do not get any on your pillow. Then leave it on overnight and you will be astounded at the difference in the sizes of your acne spots the following morning.
