Teen drivers are not seen as good risks by any Florida auto insurance carrier. They have more car crashes than all other age groups and many parents would be glad if they agree to NOT drive. Most families can only succeed in holding them off for only so long.

But you must appreciate that peer pressure is quite a strong factor at this age. You would like to learn how to reduce your teen's car insurance rate and keep them safer. Wouldn't you? Following are recommendations that will be of great help whether you're in Florida or not...

Teenagers usually demand adult privileges but take on kindergarten responsibilities. Few of them, though, would ever complain if you insist that they show they've grown old enough for the privilege by taking on some of, or all of, the responsibilities that come with it.

It's a good idea to make than bear the cost of their auto insurance or at least a good part of it. It's my discovery that once young persons pay for something with their hard-earned cash, they end up being more careful with it.

Here are a few rules that will keep your teenager safer...

1) Ensure they never drive with only fellow teens as passengers.

2) It's important for your teen's safety that he/she does not drive in the night. And, where it becomes inevitable, go over things they must bear in mind.

Reports show that accidents happen more between the hours of 9.00pm and 2.00am.

3) If they drink then they must not drive. Err on the side of safety and insist that they do not drive after as little as a sip of alcohol.

4) Let your teen know that they shouldn't race on the highway and let them know the risk they run if they do.

Have a stiff sanction if they violate speed limits or traffic laws.

5) Encourage your teen to tell you wherever they want to drive to and know in whose company it will be if any. It may be hard sometimes but there are place where your teen is better off using public transport.

These all presume that you already have great communication with your teenager. However, whether you do have or don't have such, here's something that will surely help you get cheap auto insurance for your teen: Getting and comparing quotes from a wide range of insurers.
