Whether this new generation of Xboxes has eliminated the red ring of death problem remains to be seen. Only time and a good deal of use under a variety of conditions will tell. Meanwhile, for the rest of us stuck with older Xboxes, the red ring of death and other heat related problems are still a fact of life.
This article will discuss a few troubleshooting tips for you to try out before considering refurbishment or repair.
1.) I know this one sounds obvious, but it's here for the sake of being complete: Restart the console.
2.) If this doesn't help, then the problem may be due to a loose cable or cord. First, disconnect all power cords and cables that can be removed from the Xbox. Disconnect the power cord from the wall.
All cables and cords should now be reattached to the console. Plug the power cord back into the wall and turn the console back on.

5.) If your problem is overheating, then give your Xbox an occasional rest so that it can cool off. Make sure that the cooling vents are obstruction free and operate your Xbox in a well ventilated space. Be careful that there are no heat sources in the vicinity.
Vacuum any dust buildup from inside the Xbox. Aim a fan at the console to keep it cool. The power brick also has to be kept cool, so keep it off of soft material such as shag carpeting.
It too should be in an open area with ventilation. The power brick can also be hung from its cord using a hook.
